Before you start your application, please run through this list to make sure you have the information required.

Section 3 : Your Project

Section 4 : Finance

  • What capital does the church have? (£)
    • Capital for NHCT purposes is money set aside which is not normally expected to be required for the Church's annual running costs.  It may be invested or held in the bank. It would normally include reserves, as recommended by the Charity Commission to be held as emergency running costs.   Please tell us how much is held in reserves.  Other capital may be restricted and not available for the church's building project - but please explain what purpose it is restricted for.  Please tell us the amount of any other capital that can be used for the project and whether earmarked wholly or partially for something else.

Section 5 : Attachments

This section requires files which you will need to have saved on the device you will be submitting your application on.

  • One external image of your church (high-resolution JPEG)
  • One internal image of your church (high-resolution JPEG)
  • Audited/examined accounts covering the latest financial year. Please include all those relevant to the church or parish, such as associated trusts and Friends' organisations, even if the funds are not available for repairs (PDF or Word document).
  • The most recent summary section of a Quinquennial Report or equivalent building survey (PDF or Word document).
  • Safeguarding policy (PDF or Word document).
  • Supporting Statement from PCC or Equivalent Governing Committee (minutes of a meeting are acceptable) (PDF, Word or JPEG)
  • Additional Information (Only if requested

Section 6 : Declaration

Final review and submission of application, including acceptance of declaration stating sufficient authorisation to submit application on behalf of your church.
