St Alban's Church, Earsdon, Whitley Bay - Awarded a Grant of £10,000

St Alban's Church, Earsdon, Whitley Bay was recently awarded a grant of £10,000 to go towards a disabled access ramp, toilets, small kitchen and small office.

Revd Tim Mayfield, Vicar at St Alban's Church, Earsdon stated:

"Thank you so much for your generous grant of £10,000. This has helped take the facilities at St Alban's Church, Earsdon, Whitley Bay to a completely new level".

1.       "The ramped access means we no longer have to produce our clanky metal ramp whenever someone arrives in a wheelchair. The contractors have done a wonderful job, and as someone said to me only just this evening 'it looks like it's always been there".

2.       "The two toilets (one of them fully accessible) mean we have these facilities in the building for the first time. We know there are people who are just waiting for the lavatories to be fully functional so that they will be able to return to church".

3.       "The kitchen is coming along very nicely. We're looking forward to all the activities we will be able to host once it is operational. For example, we have long hoped to function as a warm hub (the more so since the removal of the winter heating allowance from many pensioners). On a Wednesday, someone might be able to come to communion, stay on for coffee and a chat, and stay on further for soup and a roll".

"THANK YOU NHCT"!
